Bodegas Campillo Hosts British Airways Celebration for the Launch of Its New Aircraft

Bodegas Campillo, a flagship winery in Rioja Alavesa, was the venue of choice for British Airways to celebrate the arrival of a new aircraft for its popular London–San Sebastián route. The exclusive event, blending art, culture, and wine, became a unique experience that captivated all attendees.

The journey began aboard the airline's new aircraft, which transported British Airways’ most VIP clients—those with the highest number of Avios points—to San Sebastián. The following day, Saturday, May 17, guests traveled to Laguardia, the iconic winemaking village in Rioja Alavesa, where Bodegas Campillo, renowned for its imposing château-style architecture and high-end wines, warmly welcomed them.

Guests had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the true essence of wine through an exclusive tour of the winery, the first in Rioja designed by an architect. During the visit, they explored the winery’s history and its meticulous winemaking and aging process. They also visited the art gallery, which is currently hosting an exhibition by Santiago Picatoste, and admired the impressive wine library.

The experience concluded with a tasting of four of the winery’s standout wines:

• Campillo Albariño, a vibrant and fresh white

• Campillo Raro, a limited-production wine made with tempranillo peludo, a rare Rioja subvariety

• Campillo Reserva, elegant and well-structured

• Campillo Crianza, a true Rioja classic

All wines were paired with an exquisite meal during a day that seamlessly combined architecture, art, gastronomy, and wine in a truly exceptional setting.
