Bodegas Faustino, among the five best European wineries of 2025

Nominated for European Winery of the Year

Bodegas Faustino, the iconic winery from Rioja and part of Familia Martínez Zabala, has been selected as one of the five finalists for “European Winery of the Year” at the prestigious Wine Star Awards, granted annually by the U.S. magazine Wine Enthusiast.

Once again, Bodegas Faustino is among the top five finalists for these awards—an achievement that highlights its legacy, international reach, and commitment to excellence. This year’s nomination is particularly significant given that no Spanish winery has received this award since 2018.

The Wine Enthusiast jury recognized Faustino’s long history, with more than 160 years of winemaking heritage, and its strong international presence, especially in key markets like the United States, where the Faustino brand enjoys great prestige.

In addition to this nomination, the winery’s flagship wine, Faustino I Gran Reserva—the best-selling Gran Reserva from Rioja worldwide—has been awarded 95 points out of 100 by Wine Enthusiast, further confirming its winemaking excellence.

This milestone adds to other major achievements by Faustino, such as its inclusion in the Top 15 of Drinks International’s “The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands” ranking, and numerous awards received by the other wineries and wines of Familia Martínez Zabala.

This recognition reflects Bodegas Faustino’s constant effort to uphold winemaking tradition while setting trends in the industry. A clear example of this innovative and sustainable vision is the launch of Legado Bodegas Faustino, a new “Planeta 1.0” and “energy plus” wine tourism project designed in collaboration with the renowned Foster + Partners architecture studio. This multidisciplinary space integrates seamlessly with the surrounding vineyards and features a wine bar open to the public without prior reservation—offering a unique universe centered around wine.
