Best of Internacional Award
Bodegas Faustino has been awarded the 2026 Global Best Of Wine Tourism Award, the highest distinction granted by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network.
This honor recognizes the innovation, sustainability and unique vision behind Legado Bodegas Faustino, the project developed in collaboration with the renowned architectural firm Foster & Partners.
The international jury selected Bodegas Faustino as the top global wine-tourism experience in the Architecture & Landscape category, highlighting its exceptional ability to integrate architecture, nature and sustainability. Located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, in Oyón, the project now stands as a benchmark for wine tourism worldwide.
Bodegas Faustino, a Global Leader in Sustainable Wine Tourism
Legado Bodegas Faustino stands out for its seamless blend of architecture, nature and culture in a unique setting surrounded by vineyards. The Planet 1.0 building, created with Foster & Partners, is not only an example of cutting-edge design but also a genuine model of sustainability.
Built with an “energy-plus” structure, the building generates more energy than it consumes. Its system distributes surplus energy to the rest of the facilities on the estate, enabling full energy self-sufficiency for the entire winery. In addition, its green roof helps absorb carbon emissions, underscoring Bodegas Faustino’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
A Unique Visitor Experience
Legado Bodegas Faustino has been conceived to offer visitors a fully immersive, accessible and distinctive experience. Exclusive activities include guided tours, vertical tastings, aroma challenges and concerts in a natural setting. Its wine bar, open daily, invites guests to enjoy wine in a relaxed atmosphere, with or without a reservation.
The culinary offering, developed in partnership with Mahercooks, features carefully curated small plates designed to pair with the winery’s wines, turning every visit into a complete sensory experience. This approach cements Bodegas Faustino as a must-visit destination not only for wine lovers but also for enthusiasts of architecture and fine gastronomy.
Wine Tourism on the Global Stage
The Global Best Of Wine Tourism Awards bring together regional winners from the world’s major wine capitals, making Bodegas Faustino’s recognition even more significant. This award reinforces its position as a leading global model of sustainable wine tourism, furthering the vision of Familia Martínez Zabala, whose winemaking legacy spans more than 160 years.
Bodegas Faustino competed against iconic wine destinations such as Bordeaux, Napa Valley and Cape Town, adding even greater weight to the magnitude of this achievement.
People’s Choice Award
Following this recognition, Bodegas Faustino is also in the running for the People’s Choice Award, in which the public can vote for their favorite wine-tourism experience among the winners from the twelve world wine capitals. Voting will open at the end of November on the Great Wine Capitals Global Network website, where wine professionals can support Legado Bodegas Faustino.
