Bodegas Faustino receives the “European Winery of the Year” award in New York
“When you inherit a family legacy like ours, your responsibility is to care for it, improve it and help it grow. This award is a tremendous recognition of the passion for wine passed down to us through that legacy, as well as of the dedication and hard work of the entire Faustino team who have accompanied us on this journey,” said Lourdes Martínez Zabala.
This award places Bodegas Faustino among the international elite of wine and wine tourism and represents a historic milestone for both Spain and the Rioja region, as no Rioja winery has received this distinction since 2013.
The Wine Enthusiast jury highlighted the winery’s more than 160 years of winemaking heritage, its strong commitment to excellence and sustainability, and its outstanding international presence, particularly in key markets such as the United States, where the Faustino brand is synonymous with prestige and quality.
The award also recognizes Bodegas Faustino’s innovative and sustainable vision, exemplified by the recent launch of Legado Bodegas Faustino, the world’s first Planet 1.0 and “energy-plus” wine tourism project, designed in collaboration with the renowned architecture firm :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}.
Fully integrated into the surrounding landscape, this multidisciplinary space offers a unique wine-centered experience, including a wine bar open to visitors with or without a prior reservation. Legado Bodegas Faustino has recently been honored with the International Best of Wine Tourism Award 2026, recognizing it as one of the world’s leading wine tourism destinations. It has also been nominated for the National Geographic Travel Readers’ Awards 2026, where nearly one hundred nominees compete across 14 categories for top destinations and hotels in Spain and worldwide.
