Tasted Faustino Gran Reserva wines Los vinos de la cata

Grupo Faustino, led by its CEO Francisco Honrubia, took part in the Fifth Annual Full Circle Beverage Conference recently held in Chicago, USA.

This is one of the most prestigious events in the world of wine and spirits, with the participation of international producers and industry professionals. It is a 3-day VIP event that includes seminars and masterclasses on wines and spirits, and masters of wine and master sommeliers from a number of countries are among its attendees.

Faustino I vertical tasting

Francisco Honrubia hosted a vertical tasting of Faustino I Gran Reserva at one of the seminars held at the conference under the title “Retrospective Vertical of Bodegas Faustino’s Gran Reserva Rioja”. The tasting featured extraordinary vintages from 1955 to 2006, offering a journey through 50 years of the Rioja wine region and of the winery.

These wines received the highest scores, medals and comments from the most internationally renowned experts and opinion leaders.

The group’s CEO took advantage of the opportunity to present to specialists, producers, wholesalers and the specialist press from around the world the iconic Gran Faustino Reserva 1955, made essentially from tempranillo, blended with other varieties in the style of the great classic Rioja reserva wines, of which barely 2,000 bottles remain.

An unrepeatable, brilliant and luminous wine, with the aromas of spices (turmeric, bay leaf, coriander seeds, among others), notes of honey and different nuts, including almonds and marzipan… “an entirely different class of wine”.

A prestigious meeting place

Throughout the three days of the conference, more than 200 wines from countries such as France, Portugal, the United States, Italy and Spain were presented to a public comprising international trade specialist.

The United States is a strategic country for Qualified Designation of Origin (DOCa) Rioja wines, where they are highly appreciated and recognised, particularly the high-quality wines.

The vertical tasting hosted by Francisco Honrubia was part of the more than 20 masterclass sessions, educational workshops and tastings held at the event, with the Bodegas Faustino masterclass being one of the most successful and best attended.

The Full Circle Beverage Conference, in its fifth annual edition this year, is a magnificent opportunity for networking among professionals in the wine and spirit trade, as a place where they can make contacts, exchange knowledge and develop new ideas.
